TintinTintin in Belgium.
Another world famous Belgian is reporter Tintin, the comic strip hero created by Hergé (Georges Rémi). Tintin started his adventures in 1929 with a trip to the Soviet Union. Later 23 more exciting albums followed. Although the young reporter is very Belgian, people from all over the world can identify with him. Tintin doesn't travel or work alone: among his many friends are Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus and detectives Thomson and Thompson. But his most loyal friend is Snowy of course. The style Hergé drew in is known as the "clear line". Hergé's style and concept influenced many national and international cartoon artists. Hergé died in 1983, but this wasn't the end of the comic strip hero. Tintin remains as alive and popular as ever. He's known the world over by people of every age and of all cultures. The comic books keep on selling and TV series, books, stamps, expositions; etc. have been dedicated to this world icon from Belgium.
