The country of BelgiumThe country of Belgium, Europe.
When you go to the country of Belgium, be sure to visit the highlights of Belgian tourism: the cities of Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent and Bruges. Many British, Americans, Australians and Canadians also want to see the region where World War I was fought: Flanders' Fields. Although technically these "fields" are a part of the present country of Belgium, emotionally and psychologically they "belong" to Britain. Especially the city of Ypres is still "British". And Belgians don't have a problem with that. The country of Belgium is one of the smaller western European countries. But with its 10 milion inhabitants it is densely populated. The capital is Brussels, which is also the capital of the European Union. This small country played an important role in the birth of the European Union. Together with Holland and Luxemburg it formed the Benelux on which the European Community (now the EU) was built. English speakers who visit the country of Belgium won't have a problem communicating with the local people. Belgium is a bilingual country : Flemish is spoken in the north and french in the south. But many also speak English and Belgians are always eager to practice their language skills. And don't forget to enjoy some of the delicacies of the country: chocolates, pastries, cheeses and beers!
