Brussels MapLooking at the Brussels map.
When you look at a Brussels map you’ll see that the old historical “Grand Place” lies in the very center of the city. This capital of Belgium and of the European Union has its origin in the Middle Ages. It was then a small Flemish village called “Broeksele”. You’ll see on the modern Brussels map that around this medieval “Grand Place” ( Place means square) many very old churches, chapels, convents and other historic buildings are situated. On the Brussels map you’ll also notice that north of the historic center there is the Opera House, the “Bourse”, the Post Office, while south are the Magdalena Chapel, the Anneesens Tower, the “Chapel-Church”, the Manneken Pis statue, the Zavel Church and the Palais de Justice. Also visible on the Brussels map are the suburbs and surrounding towns. Many of them are very beautiful places with a lot to see. Some of them : Anderlecht with the Erasmus House, Grand Bigard with its unique 16th century castle, Grimbergen with its “Tommen-mill”, Steenokkerzeel with the castle of Ham, Huizingen with its beautiful Domain and last but not least the town of Waterloo where the famous battle took place.
