The classics of Belgium tourism.

Planning a trip to Belgium? Tourism in this small country is situated largely in and around some of the most beautiful historic cities and towns of the western part of Europe. Belgium tourism has a lot to offer. Apart from the old medieval cities there is the North Sea coast with many active and thriving  coastal towns and the beautiful green country side of the Ardennes (in Wallonia).

The most important places for Belgium tourism however are still the classics like: Antwerp with its old city centre and it cathedral with paintings of Rubens , Brussels with Manneken Pis, the “Grand Place” and its “joie de vivre”,  Waterloo (the real and original place where the famous battle took place), Gent (also written as Ghent) with its medieval castle and Ypres, the famous town that played such a tragic role in the First World War.

The most visited “attraction” of Belgium tourism remains Bruges. This unique medieval city attracts hundreds of thousands of foreign and national holidaymakers every year. The majority of the buildings (big and small) are still the original medieval constructions. The city has a lot of original old canals which are very much liked by tourists. Because of these canals Bruges is called the Venice of the North. It is adored by Japanese, Americans, Canadians, British an many more. Don’t forget the windmills!
