Belgian Shepherds are the most popular of the four Belgian Sheepdogs. They are muscular black dogs, very agile and their body is squarely proportioned.Belgian Shepherds is moderately long coat, very full and extra feathering on the underside. Their lower legs and face are covered with short hair. Sometimes they have a little white on the chest, chin or toes. Belgian Shepherd are very intelligent and obedient dogs. They need to be part of the family and not locked up in a kennel. If socialized well with children, they can be very good with them, but care should be taken when introducing this dog with small pets. They can be rather dominant toward other dogs. But if you socialize them well, there shouldn’t be a problem. This breed is very watchful and protective, with strong territorial instincts. It should be trained and socialized from an early age. But the training shouldn’t be harsh or the will become uncooperative. Belgian Shepherds are superb police and guard dogs and they like to work.
