Belgian ShepardSome qualities of the Belgian Shepard.
The Belgian Shepard is a muscular black dog, very agile and its body is squarely proportioned. Its coat is moderately long, very full and should be straight, not silky or wiry. The lower legs and face are covered with short hair. Sometimes they may have some white on the chest, chin or toes. The Belgian Shepard/Groenendaal is the most popular of the four Belgian sheepdogs. These dogs are very watchful and protective and have strong territorial instincts. They should be trained and socialized from an early age. But the training shouldn’t be harsh or they will become uncooperative. The Belgian Shepard can be an excellent police and guard dog. This dog can be very good with children if socialized well with them. It can be rather dominant toward other dogs and care should be taken when introducing this dog with small pets. If you socialize this Belgian Shepard well, there shouldn’t be a problem. It’s a very smart and obedient dog and should be part of the family, not locked up in a kennel.
